Messe Düsseldorf publishes First Representative Sector Review of Cosmetic Service Providers
In July 2011 Messe Düsseldorf will publish the first representative review of the German sector for cosmetic services. It has summarised the results of 2,788 written interviews held with owners of cosmetic institutes, beauty farms, wellness institutes, perfumeries, nail-design studios and pedicure practices throughout Germany earlier this year.
The report publication contains facts and figures on the size of the beauty parlours, the services offered, treatment fields and sales. Furthermore, it provides concrete insights into the owners’ advertising behaviour, shopping activities, their type of education and training as well as Internet usage. It sheds a light on the German sector for cosmetic services in total as well as on the cosmetics, nail, foot, wellness and perfumery sectors individually.

Facts on the Sector
The German market for cosmetic services currently comprises to the tune of 45,000 cosmetics institutes and nail-design studios, 11,000 podology practices, 2,600 perfumeries with 2,500 cosmetic cubicles as well as spas, beauty farms and wellness institutes.
In total, approximately 90,000 people are employed in this sector generating annual sales worth € 2 billion.
